Institut Choiseul for international politics and geoeconomics is an independent research centre based in Paris, France, that specialises in the analysis of international affairs. It is a non-profit organisation dedicated to developing and promoting thinking and research in France on international relations. Political, economic, social and cultural issues of strategic relevance form the primary focus of expertise of the Institute.
The Institute's innovative approach to the analysis of international affairs has opened a new alley in French publications in the field. Institut Choiseul focuses on the economic forces and underpinnings that since the early nineties have brought about a new dynamic in international relations complementary to the traditional geopolitics, namely geo-economics.
In 1997, Institut Choiseul, then European Institute of Geoeconomics founded the first French-language quarterly journal on international affairs centred on a geo-economic perspective, called Géoéconomie.
The role of corporate strategy and corporate expansion throughout the world, and issues that go beyond the realm of statecraft have been the primary objects of analysis, and have nourished a different way of studying world affairs.
